The Folger Shakespeare Library, located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our dynamic fundraising team as Development Specialist, Data Entry (DSDE). Reporting to the Senior Manager, Development Database Services, the DSDE will be the primary data entry clerk for Development, personally completing most database updates of biographical data, contact information, coding, gift processing, and acknowledgements. The DSDE will: process all gift transactions in Tessitura; create, update, and verify information contained in donor and prospect records; create, execute, and share acknowledgements from Tessitura for all gifts entered; and coordinate with the Business Office to process tax receipts, acknowledgements, and reconciliations as needed. Additionally, the DSDE will: print and mail standard gift acknowledgements and monthly renewals; verify, enter, and update data as part of broader database management; participate at donor/prospect events; and assist with departmental projects, such as large mailings, digitization of files, and preliminary prospect research. Regular hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8:45am-4:45pm, with occasional evening and weekend hours for events. This is an entry level full-time position with an excellent benefits package.
The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent skills in organization, accuracy, and customer service, in addition to knowledge of database management. Superb attention to detail and security of proprietary information, as well as the ability to perform in a deadline-oriented environment, are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required, as is experience with donor databases. Knowledge of Tessitura is highly desirable. This position requires an Associates degree or equivalent, with a minimum of one year of database research and data entry experience, preferably as a full-time intern or full-time employee in a nonprofit cultural institution.
